INDIANAPOLIS – The Herron School of Art and Design presents “Look/See,” the school’s annual year-end celebration in which exhibitions, open studios and other events fill all 6,000 square feet of gallery space and span Herron’s two buildings on the IUPUI campus. “Look/See” will take place from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 3, with thesis exhibitions continuing through May 19.

The M.A. and MFA thesis exhibition showcases the work of Herron’s talented students completing their master’s degrees in art therapy, visual art and visual communication design. This exhibition presents the culminating work of 22 students and highlights examples of installation art, intermedia work, painting, sculpture and furniture design; user-centric design innovations; and therapeutic uses of the creative process.

“This lively celebration showcases the vitality of work being produced by Herron’s graduate and undergraduate students,” said Valerie Eickmeier, dean of the Herron School. “If anyone wonders where creativity thrives in Indianapolis, they haven’t yet experienced ‘Look/See.’”

Additional “Look/See” events taking place the evening of May 3 include:

  • Visual communication design undergraduate thesis show.
  • Undergraduate photography exhibition.
  • Book arts capstone exhibition.
  • New student artwork installed throughout Eskenazi Hall.
  • Furniture design, print and ceramics sales.
  • Open studios.

The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public. Complimentary parking will be available at both Eskenazi Hall and the Eskenazi Fine Arts Center, and shuttle bus service between the buildings will be available throughout the evening. Tours of Herron’s facilities and light refreshments will also be available. More information is available online.
