IU experts available to comment on importance of data integrity in sports betting

August 30, 2019

INDIANAPOLIS -- Sports wagering becomes legal in Indiana on Sept. 1, and with that comes the increased importance of the integrity and security of real-time sports data. In the most recent Indy Sports Poll, the IUPUI Sports Innovation Institute found that 43 percent of its 840 survey respondents believed that betting on sports events would lead to cheating or the fixing of contests. IUPUI expert and professional sports statistician Geoffre Sherman is available to comment on what sports leagues are doing to ensure their data is the fastest and most accurate source available and how the integrity of this data will affect the sports betting industry.
