IU experts available to comment on infection prevention, health safety related to COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS -- As the number of people in the United States who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus continues to rise, Americans have a lot of questions about how they can protect themselves and their families. Indiana University physicians and scientists are available to comment on what people can do to stay healthy, what symptoms they should look out for and what steps they can take if they suspect infection by COVID-19. Expert Bio

Dr. W. Graham Carlos is a Bicentennial Professor and associate professor of clinical medicine at the IU School of Medicine. In 2017, he was honored with the St. Margaret Hospital Guild Achievement in Medicine Award for his work in reducing harm from hospital acquired infections. This led to his recent appointment as Chief of Medicine for Eskenazi Health. In this role, Carlos fills the Joseph J. Mamlin Chair of Medicine. (more)

Dr. Cole Beeler, an assistant professor of clinical medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the IU School of Medicine, is also associate fellowship director for the Infectious Disease Fellowship and medical director of Infection Prevention at University Hospital, where he rounds and has clinic. He is interested in infectious-related harm events, as well as resident and medical student education. (more)

Expert Bio

Dr. Christopher Clark, a visiting lecturer at the IU School of Optometry, has spent time doing clinical work at the Boston Foundation for Sight, Wenzhou Eye Hospital in China, and Donald Korb and Associates, among other places. He received his doctorate in optometry from the New England College of Optometry in 2005 and his Ph.D. in vision science from Indiana University in 2013. He has received grant funding from the National Institutes of Health and from the ophthalmic industry. (more)
