IU experts available to comment on ongoing shifts in sports landscape due to coronavirus

INDIANAPOLIS -- In the interest of safety in the wake of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the sports landscape is shifting on nearly an hourly basis. The NBA season has been put on hold, major conference basketball tournaments have been canceled, and other events such as the NCAA men's and women's basketball tournaments have announced that fans will not be permitted. Expert Bio

Galen Clavio is the head of the Sports Media program at Indiana University, the director of the National Sports Journalism Center and an associate professor. His research focuses on electronic media and its uses among fans, media and sports organizations, and his professional background is in sports journalism and broadcasting. Galen was an invited panelist at the Sloan Sports Analytics Conference in 2017 on the topic of virtual reality in sports, and he has written extensively about the use of social media by fans. (more)
