Seven total units within the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education are scheduled to relocate throughout December and January. University Division, the Center for Students in Transition, the Health Professions and Prelaw Center, the Office of Engaged Learning, and the OVPUE Records Office, all currently located in Maxwell Hall, will move mid-December.

The Career Development Center (CDC), currently situated at 625 N. Jordan Ave., will move into the library at the semester’s end.

“We are really excited to have a new, central location in the Wells Library for our outstanding student service offices. By bringing University Division, the Career Development Center, the Center for Students in Transition, the Health Professions and Prelaw Center, the Office of Engaged Learning and the OVPUE Records Office together under one roof, we will be extremely well situated to assist our students. Our plan is to provide a one-stop-shop for students to go to and receive all of the resources, coaching, and advising they need,” said Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Dennis Groth.

“We are certain this new space will ease the transition into college by helping students navigate the process of finding a major, potential career paths, and experiential learning opportunities that suit their educational and personal goals,” he added.

Students who are currently assigned a University Division advisor in one of the residence halls on campus will continue to visit them in that location. Students whose academic advisor was located in Maxwell Hall should go to the lower level of Wells Library for advising appointments after mid-December. Students should continue to schedule advising appointments through the Student Appointment Scheduler in One.IU.

During winter break, the OVPUE administrative unit will move from Maxwell Hall to a house at 10th and Jordan. By spring semester all units will be in place, ready to serve the IU student population.

The integration of the student service offices has been in the planning stages for some time, but the Bicentennial Strategic Plan’s action item to renovate and modernize the historic Old Crescent opened up an opportunity for OVPUE to make the transition to Wells this year.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education serves students and faculty at Indiana University – Bloomington, through a variety of services, with an end goal of facilitating student success and enriched collegiate experiences. The units housed in OVPUE provide a wide variety of resources and opportunities for students and faculty alike, both inside and outside the classroom, by integrating academics and experiential learning with personal and professional development.
