Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its annual Women’s Research Poster Competition, showcasing exceptional research and innovation in technology and computing by graduate and undergraduate students. This year’s event saw a diverse range of projects across various disciplines, highlighting the depth and breadth of talent within the university’s academic community.
The competition, organized by IUB’s Center of Excellence for Women & Technology (CEW&T), aims to recognize and promote the achievements of women researchers, scholars, and practitioners in technology-related fields, such as computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, data science, and engineering.
Held annually, this event provides participants with the opportunity to showcase their work through interactive poster presentations, receive feedback from esteemed judges, and compete for prestigious awards and recognition across five discipline categories: Health & Behavioral Sciences, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Physical & Mathematical Sciences, and Technology & Computing, including the coveted People’s Choice Award.
“I am so impressed by the quality of research, the presentation skills, and the passion of the students who participate.,” said Michelle Bartley-Taylor Director of the Center of Excellence for Women & Technology at Indiana University Bloomington. “The depth of understanding they have for their topic is remarkable and a testament to the quality mentoring experience they are receiving from dedicated IU faculty. Many of these students are current or former participants in our long-standing Emerging Scholars Experience for Undergraduate Women and we could not be prouder of the work they are doing and how they are representing the university.”
In this year’s competition, the winners were selected based on their research merit, content, poster appearance, and clarity, organization, and oral presentation. The 2024 winners are as follows:
Health & Behavioral Sciences:

Life Sciences:
- First Place Undergraduate: Maddie Kauffman
- First Place Graduate: YiTing Huang
Social Sciences:
- First Place Undergraduate: Amanda Smith
- Second Place Undergraduate: Anchal Bahel
- First Place Graduate: Rosemarie Lerma
Physical & Mathematical Sciences:
- First Place Undergraduate: Tau Stinger
- First Place Graduate: Christie Montone
Technology & Computing:
- First Place Undergraduate: Stuti Dewan
- Second Place Undergraduate: Faye Coy
- First Place Graduate: Xiaoying Zheng
People’s Choice:
- Graduate: Mysha Ahmed Chowdhury
- Undergraduate: Stuti Dewan
The competition also awarded scholarships to the first-place winners, with $200 awarded to undergraduate winners and $75 to graduate winners. Second-place awards were given in categories with ten or more submissions, highlighting the exceptional quality and quantity of research presented at the event.
The success of this year’s competition underscores IUB’s commitment to promoting diversity and excellence in research across disciplines, inspiring future generations of researchers and leaders.
