Ukraine: A year of support in the face of Russia’s war

In the year since Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, Indiana University students, faculty, staff and alumni have mobilized to help Ukrainian scholars, educate others about the war and support Ukrainian students.

Speaker series provides expert perspectives on Russian invasion of Ukraine

Regina Smyth, a professor of political science in the College of Arts and Sciences at IU Bloomington, created a “Russia at War” class that includes a speaker series that’s open to the public. 

It is not so much about physical danger, but it is already about the desire to revive, rebuild and develop our country after the war. It’s about the desire for dignity, freedom and democracy during the war, no matter what.

Classes incorporate Ukrainian students, topics both after war and before

In class after class, Indiana University students are learning about Ukraine. They’re learning about its culture, its language, the war, its history with Russia. Other classes are meeting with Ukrainian students, to share more about their daily lives and to learn each other’s languages.

Following war against Ukraine, Russian researcher returns to IUPUI
