BLOOMINGTON, IND.—In a new agreement with software giant Adobe, Indiana University doubles down on its commitment to innovative teaching and learning, while preparing students for modern workplaces.
In November, IU signed a new enterprise-wide contract with the company to provide access to Adobe Creative Cloud Pro—a collection of 20+ desktop and mobile apps and services for photography, design, social media, video, web, and more, plus stock photo services—to its 110,000+ students, faculty, and staff around the state.
We are constantly seeking to give our students and faculty transformative experiences through innovative uses of technology. By offering unlimited access to Adobe’s suite of industry-standard creative tools, we are doing just that.

This is IU’s fifth enterprise agreement with Adobe. In 2008, IU was the first university to develop such an agreement with Adobe and has been the model for many other educational institutions since. In this agreement, IU will again be a trailblazer as it becomes the first university to purchase Creative Cloud Enterprise Pro (CCE Pro), which will give all its users unlimited access to more than 190 million photos, illustrations, and graphics in Adobe Stock.
“We are constantly seeking to give our students and faculty transformative experiences through innovative uses of technology. By offering unlimited access to Adobe’s suite of industry-standard creative tools, we are doing just that,” said Julie Johnston, IU’s interim associate vice president for learning technologies. “And as higher education shifts toward more digital learning, our new Adobe agreement ensures quality content for students and faculty alike—not to mention it reinforces our commitment to digital fluency.”
Recently, IU also was named to the Adobe Creative Campus program, which “supports institutions committed to student outcomes and career-readiness through digital literacy,” according to the Adobe website. IU is one of only 40 universities globally who has made this commitment to its students—and it is the only one in Indiana.
As faculty use digital tools like Canvas and video to communicate more of their course content to students, access to the millions of assets available in Adobe Stock will enable us to quickly create more engaging experiences for students.

Indiana University’s Adobe Creative Cloud Pro users will have unlimited access to Adobe Stock. This includes Adobe’s core stock assets: photos, vector graphics, and illustrations, that can be used in presentations, reports, videos, websites, and other creative work. There are currently more than 190 million assets in that collection with more being added on an ongoing basis.
“As faculty use digital tools like Canvas and video to communicate more of their course content to students, access to the millions of assets available in Adobe Stock will enable us to quickly create more engaging experiences for students,” said Adam Maksl, associate professor of journalism and media at IU Southeast.
“We are proud to support Indiana University in their mission to prepare students with the essential digital skills for their future careers,” said Sebastian Distefano, Adobe’s director of strategic development. “As one of our first Adobe Creative Campus schools, Indiana will also be one of the first education customers to provide all students, faculty, and staff with our new Creative Cloud Enterprise Pro offering. Indiana University is at the forefront in their commitment to digital literacy, and we look forward to greater partnership in the future.”
