The Karst supercomputer at IU will be retired from service in December 2020. Here is what you need to know about the retirement:
- You will not be able to login to Karst after Friday, December 18.
- Data in the home directories of Karst will remain accessible from the other IU supercomputers, Big Red 3, Carbonate, and the Karst replacement, through December 31, 2021.
The replacement system, which will be available to all IU students, staff, and faculty, consists of 92 compute nodes and has significantly more compute power than Karst. Each node has two 64-core CPUs and 512GB of RAM. More details on system configuration and availability will be provided in the coming months.
