BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—The IU Office of the Vice President for Information Technology and CIO announced that Michele Kelmer has been named director of faculty engagement and outreach, UITS Learning Technologies.
In this role, Kelmer will oversee digital education programs and initiatives, IT consultants at the campus centers for teaching and learning, and the Assistive Technology and Accessibility Centers. Kelmer succeeds John Gosney, who left IU in September 2020.
“Michele’s background is perfect for this position, which focuses heavily on engaging faculty and supporting their work around teaching and learning,” said Jay Gladden, IU associate vice president of Learning Technologies. “She has demonstrated her ability to lead a team, develop effective communication, and create outreach programs that are creative and effective at engaging faculty. I am really looking forward to working with her in her new role.”

Kelmer has worked at IU for 15 years, most recently as manager of digital education programs and initiatives, where she and her team created innovative communication and educational experiences to increase the awareness and use of learning technologies at IU. She joined IU as a faculty member in the IU Bloomington Kelley School of Business in 2007, and in 2012 she joined UITS to work for IT Community Partnerships in Client Services and Support.
As director of faculty engagement and outreach, Kelmer will focus on relationships with faculty, students, administrators, and other campus-specific and university-wide groups to understand their needs, develop solutions and advance the strategic priorities of IU.
Kelmer earned a master’s of education in instructional systems technology from IU and a master’s in interactive communication technology from Florida State University. She earned a bachelor’s in communication and public relations at Berry College.
