Here’s some good news you can use: On June 1, Indiana University inked a five-year agreement with Microsoft Corp. to provide access to its Office 365 suite of software at no cost to all IU students, faculty, and staff.
The new enterprise license agreement continues IU’s long relationship with Microsoft Corp., which began in 1998. IU President Michael A. McRobbie initiated this agreement when he served as IU’s first vice president for information technology.
Office 365 is a subscription-based service that provides multiple options for accessing the newest versions of Microsoft Office. Office 365 includes Office 2016 for Windows and macOS, cloud-based Office Online apps, and mobile apps for your smartphone or tablet.

You can install it on up to five PCs or Macs, five tablets (Windows, iPad, and Android), and five phones. The subscription entitles you to use the software as long as you have an active IU computing account. Unlike a perpetual license, you are not entitled to use the software after you leave IU.
