Expert Bio

Michael Courtney, outreach and engagement librarian, connects the IU Libraries’ resources and services to the academic priorities of various campus communities and student audiences, including first-year students, service learners, distance learners, international students and graduate students. He provides leadership and direction for faculty in the effective design and teaching of information literacy education.

An active scholar, Courtney publishes and presents on topics including instructional design in online learning, critical information literacy, and the connections between service learning and libraries. He credits his formative years at Barningham CEVC Primary School in Suffolk, England, as the foundation for a lifetime of inquiry.
