Expert Bio

Anthony Cox is professor of marketing and chair of the Business of Medicine MBA Program. His research examines consumer health behavior: particularly how consumers evaluate disease prevention and detection behaviors such as vaccination, cancer screening and HIV testing. He has been a co-investigator on three major NIH-funded projects examining these issues.

Cox’s research has been published in top journals, including Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, Health Psychology and Journal of Adolescent Health. He has extensive experience providing consulting and executive education in the health care industry.

Cox received his Ph.D. and MBA from Indiana University, and he received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University.

Areas of Expertise

Research examines how consumers make health-related decisions, including how consumers evaluate the risks of using (and not using) medical products, how message framing influences health-related behaviors, and how measuring consumers’ intentions and attitudes influences their subsequent behavior.
