Expert Bio
Yvonne M. Dutton joined the IU McKinney faculty in 2012. She is a professor of law teaching evidence, criminal law, criminal procedure, international criminal law, international law and comparative law. Her research interests include international criminal law, international human rights law and maritime piracy. In addition, she has written several articles about online teaching and learning in law schools. Those articles are based on her experience teaching at McKinney since it launched its online programming in 2015 and include empirical evidence from anonymous student surveys and focus group research conducted with students at the law school.
Dutton graduated from Columbia Law School, where she served on the Columbia Law Review and was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar every year. After graduation, she clerked for a federal judge in the Southern District of New York and practiced as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office in that same district.
She has published her research in a variety of law reviews. In May 2013, her book "Rules, Politics, and the International Criminal Court: Committing to the Court" was published by Routledge.
