Expert Bio

Marshelia Harris is an assistant professor in the School of Social Work at IU Northwest. She is macro focused and teaches courses in social welfare policy, practice evaluation, community engagement and mental health policy. Her research interests include adjunct teaching practices, community engagement, cultural humility and social policy.

Additional experience includes serving as the field coordinator for the BSW program, teaching field seminar, and developing online courses across the undergraduate and graduate curricula. She is a licensed child welfare specialist with several years of administrative experience in social services, case management and clinical services and has also managed parenting and non-parenting youth programs and facilitated training workshops.

Harris received her MSW from IU Northwest and her DSW from the University of St. Thomas and St. Catherine University.
