Expert Bio

Chris Lamb is a professor of journalism at IUPUI, where he teaches sports journalism classes to undergraduate and graduate students. He is an author, historian, lecturer, satirist and columnist.

Lamb is the author of 11 books, including two that were published in 2020 "The Art of the Political Putdown: The Greatest Comebacks, Ripostes, and Retorts in History" (Chronicle Books) and "Sports Journalism: A History of Glory, Fame, and Technology" (University of Nebraska Press). His other books include "Jackie Robinson: A Spiritual Biography"; "From Jack Johnson to LeBron James: Essays on Sports, Media, and the Color Line"; "Conspiracy of Silence: Sportswriters and the Long Campaign to Desegregate Baseball"; "Blackout: The Untold Story of Jackie Robinson's First Spring Training"; and "Drawn to Extremes: The Use and Abuse of Editorial Cartoons."

Before becoming a college professor, Lamb worked for newspapers and magazines. He has since written about 250 articles and columns for such publications as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Sports Illustrated, Los Angeles Times, ESPN.com, and The Christian Science Monitor.
