Walton Muyumba is an associate professor of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at IU Bloomington. He writes criticism for several newspapers and magazines, including The Atlantic, The Believer, The Chicago Tribune, The Crisis, The Los Angeles Review of Books, The New York Times, The New Republic and Oxford American.
His scholarship has appeared in liquid blackness, ASAP/Journal, The Oxford Handbook of Critical Improvisational Studies, The Cambridge History of American Poetry, and The Princeton Encyclopedia of Poetry and Poetics. Muyumba is the author of “The Shadow and the Act: Black Intellectual Practice, Jazz Improvisation, and Philosophical Pragmatism.”
