Expert Bio

James Kennedy is the associate vice president for University Student Services and Systems at Indiana University. Kennedy's responsibilities includes providing functional oversight of the student information system for all seven IU campuses in the areas of admissions, financial aid, student records and veteran’s affairs. He is responsible for campus-wide operations in the areas of institutional research and reporting, operational support, data access and internal controls.

Kennedy's expertise also includes over 18 years’ experience in financial aid. He has been involved in research and strategy initiatives to address affordability and student loan debt issues and has recently worked on the Higher Education Committee of 50, a national committee examining policy areas related to access, affordability, accountability and transparency. Kennedy has presented on financial aid and affordability issues to many organizations including the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions and other legislative committees. He has been appointed by Indiana Governor Holcomb to serve on the Indiana Education Savings Authority Board focused on helping families save for college.

His background includes more than 30 years of higher education experience in student systems, student financial aid and student financials.
