Expert Bio

Jessica Steinberg is assistant professor at the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, adjunct professor in political science and faculty affiliate of the Ostrom Workshop at IU. She studies the political economy of development, with a focus on violent conflict, natural resources and regions of limited state presence. Her recent publications include “Strategic Sovereignty: A Model of Non-State Goods Provision and Resistance in Regions of Natural Resource Extraction” in Journal of Conflict Resolution (2015). Her current book project explores the strategic interactions between natural resource firms, governments and local communities in regions of natural resource extraction.
