Expert Bio

Susan H. Williams is the Walter W. Foskett Professor of Law and director of the Center for Constitutional Democracy at the IU Maurer School of Law. She graduated from Harvard Law School (supervising editor, Harvard Law Review), and clerked for Ruth Bader Ginsburg at the U.S. Court of Appeals. She taught at Cornell University, the University of Paris, Cambridge University and the European University Institute. Her scholarship focuses on constitutional law and gender equality. Williams advises constitutional reformers globally, including ethnic minority groups in Burma, women’s groups in Burma and Liberia, the Liberian Law Reform Commission, and civil society groups in Libya, Vietnam, Jordan and Cuba.
