Expert Bio

George Rebec is Chancellor's Professor Emeritus of Psychological and Brain Sciences at IU Bloomington; his research focuses on the neural mechanisms underlying basic behavioral processes such as habit learning, motor control and motivation.

He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and did his postdoctoral training and the University of California San Diego. He was the director of the Program in Neuroscience at IU Bloomington from 1984 to 2013 and has had ongoing research support from the National Institutes of Health since 1979.

Rebec was named a fellow of American Association for the Advancement of Science in 1994 and a fellow of the Association for Psychological Science in 1997, and he was given the President's Award for Distinguished Teaching in 1990.
