Roger Pynn

Roger Pynn is a professor of physics at Indiana University Bloomington; his research concentrates on the structural properties of materials measured by neutron scattering. In 2005, he joined IU Bloomington with a joint faculty appointment at Oak Ridge National Laboratory after a 20-year career at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

He obtained his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Cambridge in England. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Neutron Scattering Society of America and a winner of the Gunnar Randers Research Prize.

Areas of Expertise

Materials science, especially the structures of soft materials and complex fluids; neutron and X-ray scattering; large-scale research facilities, such as the Spallation Neutron Source, the Advanced Photon Source, etc., usually hosted at National Laboratories in the U.S.; conversion of research reactors from highly enriched to low enriched uranium.
