Expert Bio

Robert Potter, professor and director of the Institute for Communication Research at The Media School, worked for more than a decade in the radio industry as a promotions director, research director and program director; that experience guides his teaching and his research. He is an expert in the use of psychophysiological measures -- heart rate, galvanic skin response, facial muscle activation -- to better understand cognitive and emotional response to media. He has published more than 30 peer-reviewed research articles, and his book, "Psychophysiological Measurement and Meaning: Cognitive and Emotional Responses to Media," was published in 2012 by Routledge.
