Expert Bio
Padraic Kenney is the author of books on Communist Poland ("Rebuilding Poland: Workers and Communists 1945-1950)"; the fall of Communism ("A Carnival of Revolution: Central Europe 1989"); global democratic revolutions ("1989: Democratic Revolutions at the Cold War's End"); and political prisoners ("Dance in Chains: Political Imprisonment in the Modern World"). He has spent many years living in Poland, in addition to research travel in Ireland, South Africa, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine and others. He was president of the Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies in 2016. He has been at Indiana University since 2007.
