Expert Bio
David A. McDonald is chair of the Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology at Indiana University. Since 2000, McDonald has worked closely with Palestinian refugee communities dispersed throughout Israel, Jordan and the Occupied Territories. He is author and editor of two books, "My Voice Is My Weapon: Music, Nationalism, and the Poetics of Palestinian Resistance" (2013) and "Palestinian Music and Song: Expression and Resistance Since 1900" (2013). His research focuses on the dynamics of music, violence and social protest.
