Expert Bio
Tara Benjamin, M.D., M.S., a native of Louisiana, is board certified in OB/GYN and maternal-fetal medicine. Education: B.S. from Xavier University of Louisiana, M.D. from Harvard Medical School, OB/GYN residency at Tulane University, fellowship at IU School of Medicine, master's in clinical research at IU School of Medicine. She is assistant professor of clinical OB/GYN at IU School of Medicine, and director of the maternal recovery program for Riley Maternity and Newborn Health. She has a niche in opioid use disorder in pregnancy and a DEA waiver to prescribe buprenorphine for 100 patients. Since becoming faculty in August 2015, she and her team have managed almost 300 pregnant women.
