Expert Bio

Janet R. Decker teaches school law courses to undergraduate, master’s, doctoral and law students. She primarily researches legal and policy issues in special education, but also studies charter schools and the legal literacy.

She co-authored “How to prevent special education litigation: Eight legal lesson plans” (2015). Her publications have also appeared in journals including Northwestern Journal of Law and Social Policy, Vanderbilt University’s Peabody Journal of Education, Teaching Exceptional Children, BYU Education and Law Journal, and Utah Law Review.

She holds a law degree and Ph.D. in education policy studies.
