Expert Bio

Anja Matwijkiw is a professor of professional ethics and human rights whose research focuses on stakeholder frameworks and their application in law and governance at the national and international levels. Matwijkiw’s research and teaching interests highlight human rights challenges that concern the foundations of post-conflict accountability and global justice.

Matwijkiw holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, England, U.K. She is on the editorial boards of International Criminal Law Review (Brill/Martinus Nijhoff Publishers), the Global Community Yearbook of International Law and Jurisprudence (Oxford University Press) and International Studies Journal (ISJ, Iran).

Areas of Expertise

Professional ethics, especially ethics and medicine; ethics and gender issues; human rights (including women’s human rights); United Nations law and philosophy; post-conflict justice (special expertise on Bahrain); ethics and international law; jurisprudence and legal doctrine (special expertise on M. Cherif Bassiouni and international criminal justice).
