David Parnell

David Alan Parnell is an associate professor of history with a particular focus on the ancient and medieval worlds. His primary field of research is the Early Byzantine Empire during the period known as Late Antiquity (ca. 300-700 AD). Within this chronological period, he studies aspects of identity, family, political structures and the military. Parnell is the author of one book and many articles in scholarly journals. He is also generally conversant in historical topics in the broader ancient and medieval world (ca. 1000 BC to 1500 AD).
