Expert Bio

Jenny Fisher has done extensive research in the field of environmental microbiology and has authored numerous publications in international journals. Her current research focuses on the prevalence of antibiotic resistance among human commensal bacteria and the impacts of septic system failure on local water resources.

Fisher earned a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from Duke University. She worked as an environmental engineer for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency before pursuing her Ph.D. at the University of Georgia. She teaches microbiology, microorganisms in nature and disease, environmental microbiology, medical microbiology, and biological research.
