Expert Bio
De Bryant founded participatory action research Social Action Project and expanded it into neighborhoods in Michiana, Nigeria, Rwanda and South Africa.
She teaches classes on social justice, human behavior and social institutions at the Civil Rights Heritage Center and is a member of the CRHC Advisory Board to extend its influence in the community and as a force for social justice.
Bryant pioneered best practices to build connections between IUSB and the community. She has earned the university's highest teaching award (FACET award) and award for impact of teaching on community (Lundquist award).
She received the Black History Award from the city of South Bend to acknowledge her exemplary efforts to empower neighborhoods.
Bryant received her Ph.D. at Michigan State University in 1990.
