Expert Bio

Moira Marsh is a folklorist and librarian at Indiana University. Her research interests of humor theory and folklore are reflected in her scholarly work. She is currently undertaking a cross-cultural analysis of the acoustics of laughter and editing a book of essays about unlaughter titled “Not Funny, Not Fun.” Her book “Practically Joking” was published by Utah State University Press in 2015. Originally from New Zealand, she completed her Ph.D. in folklore at Indiana University Bloomington on the topic of the ritual humor of students.
