Expert Bio
Marianne Cardwell has over 20 years of experience in the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) field. She worked as a consultant in the private sector for 19 years and has been with The Polis Center for about two years. She has applied GIS to a variety of sectors, including the Department of Defense, utilities, formerly used defense sites, airports, local governments and more.
Cardwell is currently a GIS project coordinator focusing on environmental and disaster geoinformatics. She leads the Polis Center's efforts to update counties' multi-hazard mitigation plans and supports the center's efforts updating Indiana flood maps.
She holds a bachelor's degree in geography from Michigan State University, a master's degree in geographic and cartographic sciences from George Mason University, and is currently working toward a master's degree in data science from Indiana University.
