IU Kokomo invites incoming 9th graders to register for free academic success camp

KOKOMO, Ind. — Incoming freshmen from five area high schools are invited to prepare for academic success at a free camp hosted by Indiana University Kokomo.

The Ignite Your Future camp gives ninth graders from Frankfort, Kokomo, Maconaquah, Northwestern, and Tipton high schools the chance to dig into their interests and aptitudes , explore potential careers, and learn how to gain college ready skills.

The camp runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 22 to July 24 at IU Kokomo, 2300 S. Washington St. Lunch, snacks, and drinks will be provided.

“This camp is really focused on hands-on experiences learning about careers and their own interests related to careers,” said Leah Nellis, vice chancellor for innovation and special projects. “There will be lots of experiential learning opportunities, both about careers and the education that is required or necessary to do different jobs.”

For Kokomo High School students, this program is made possible through funding from the NIPSCO/NiSource Charitable Foundation. A grant from the Indiana Department of Education funds the camp for Frankfort, Maconaquah, Northwestern, and Tipton students.
