Hoosier moms had an extra reason to smile this Mother’s Day.

IUPUI honored nearly 7,000 new graduates on Sunday, May 14, during the 2017 commencement ceremony, which took place at Lucas Oil Stadium. The pageantry welcomed families of the graduates, including those proud moms.

Chancellor Nasser H. Paydar high-fived the graduates before the ceremony and introduced the WNBA’s Indiana Fever legend Tamika Catchings, the keynote speaker for the afternoon.

The graduates were part of a record-setting number of Indiana University graduates. With all of the IU campuses combined, 20,531 degrees were issued at various ceremonies this month.

That’s enough to make a happy Mother’s Day even happier.
