WHAT: IUPUI commencement

WHO: Nearly 7,000 students are graduating from IUPUI this spring.

  • Commencement speaker: Tamika Catchings, a superstar on the basketball court and an inspiration in the community.
  • Graduating student speaker: Amber Kriech of Carmel.

WHERE: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis

  • Media can park in the northwest lot, entering through Gate 5 on South Street (you do not need a parking pass to park in that lot, but you do need media ID).
  • Enter Lucas Oil through the media entrance and meet Margie Smith-Simmons to claim your IUPUI commencement media credentials; you must have these credentials to enter the various areas.

WHEN: 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, May 14

  • Media can arrive at Lucas Oil starting at 9:30 a.m.
  • Students begin arriving at 10:30 a.m. (and may agree to be interviewed).
  • An IUPUI mascot is scheduled to arrive around 10:30 a.m.
  • Families, friends and the general public begin arriving at 11 a.m.
  • Student procession and diploma cover presentation begins at noon (grouped by school).
  • Commencement ceremony, including speakers and IU and IUPUI dignitaries, begins at 1 p.m. and lasts approximately two hours.
  • Lunch for media is available in meeting rooms 3-4 beginning at 11 a.m.
