Prospective students will soon be able to apply to multiple IU campuses at once

Jun 16, 2017

Prospective students will be able to apply to any Indiana University campus more easily than ever before beginning Aug. 1.

The new Apply IU online application for undergraduate admission will allow students to apply to multiple IU campuses using one application and paying only one application fee.

Changes to the application process will remove barriers that prevent students from expanding their college search, according to Dan McDevitt, director of university operations for University Student Services and Systems and project lead for the new application.

“Students face enough stress when applying for college, so we are excited for the launch of this new admission application in August,” he said. “It is streamlined and mobile friendly and will make applying to multiple IU campuses much easier for undergraduate applicants.”

McDevitt said the flat fee charged for application to multiple IU campuses will be particularly beneficial to Hoosier applicants.

“If we can make the process more efficient by sharing application information and related materials across IU campuses and can remove some of the financial burden by charging one application fee for all campuses, it will be an important step toward better serving students across our state who know they want an IU education but are still deciding where to get it.”

While students will only need to fill out only one application to apply to several IU campuses, admissions offices from each campus will review applications independently. All campuses will maintain autonomy in establishing admission standards and application deadlines.

IU Bloomington will continue to allow students to choose one of three options for submitting an application for admission. In addition to the new Apply IU, students will be able to choose to apply via the Common Application or the Coalition for Access, Affordability and Success, two online systems used by hundreds of colleges and universities that enable prospective students to apply to several institutions of higher education using a single application procedure.
