The vast majority of donors specify how they would like to have their gifts used. In fiscal year 2017, donors chose to fund a wide array of initiatives within the scope of academic programs, student scholarships and financial aid, faculty support and research, and facilities.

This is the fourth consecutive year that philanthropic giving has exceeded targeted goals of For All: The Indiana University Bicentennial Campaign, the first university-wide funding campaign in IU’s history. It is also the third consecutive year that philanthropic support has exceeded $400 million.

“The IU Foundation is devoted to helping the university honor its past and help provide the support that will create opportunities for generations to come,” IU Foundation President Dan Smith said. “We are fortunate to have so many friends who support our mission. Their kindness and generosity will have a vast impact on the citizens in our great state and beyond.”

Since its launch in 2012, over 266,000 donors have participated in the For All campaign. Notable gifts from the past fiscal year include:

As of the end of fiscal year 2017, the For All campaign is two-thirds of the way to completion, set to end December 2019 to coincide with IU’s 2020 bicentennial celebration. Campaign funds raised to date provide support for IU’s students, faculty and programs through 2,716 scholarships, 120 graduate fellowships, and 123 endowed chairs and professorial positions. These investments create access and opportunities for many deserving students that would otherwise be unattainable, and help outstanding faculty pursue ideas that fuel life-changing discoveries.

For All: The Indiana University Bicentennial Campaign is taking place on all IU-administered campuses including IU Bloomington, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, IU East, IU Kokomo, IU Northwest, IU South Bend and IU Southeast.
