Free screenings for Melanoma Monday

The American Academy of Dermatology has designated May as Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month. This year, May 7 is Melanoma Monday! The Indiana University School of Medicine’s Department of Dermatology, in cooperation with the AAD, is sponsoring a free skin cancer screening from 7 to 9 a.m. May 7. 

Appointments are needed. Locations of screenings are University Hospital, Eskenazi Dermatology Clinic and Coleman Hall. To schedule a free skin cancer screening, call 317-916-3525.

The Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center is now accepting abstracts for posters to be presented at Cancer Research Day, which will be a two-day event for the first time in 2018. Students, fellows and faculty conducting cancer research at IUPUI; IU Bloomington; Purdue University; and the Harper Cancer Research Institute, a collaboration between the IU School of Medicine and the University of Notre Dame, are eligible to present at Cancer Research Day. The deadline to submit the form is 5 p.m. Friday, April 13. You’ll find the full details and the online form to submit abstracts on the website.

Cash awards will be given for best poster(s) in each research category, by group.

Cancer Research Day is an annual event that aims to increase understanding and awareness of IU Simon Cancer Center research endeavors and encourage collaboration with other cancer research institutions in Indiana. 

IU Bloomington bookstore to host Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day to celebrate IU Day 

IU faculty and staff will receive an 8 percent discount on all Apple iPads and MacBooks from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, in honor of IU Day.
