During a six-day visit to Europe, an Indiana government delegation made a stop at the IU Europe Gateway to learn more about Indiana University’s presence in Europe.
“Our delegation visited Indiana University’s Global Gateway office in Berlin on a recent economic development trip, and the discussions we had there highlighted the critical importance of nurturing global partnerships, research, cultural exchange and education opportunities,” Indiana first lady Janet Holcomb said. “It was great to see firsthand this office that acts as a hub to take Indiana to the world and bring the world to Indiana.”
The delegation included Holcomb, House Speaker Brian Bosma, Senate President Pro Tempore David Long, the International Center President and CEO Martin Baier, and Danielle McGrath from the Indiana Economic Development Corp.
“We were so pleased to welcome the delegation to our Europe Gateway and to show the group the resources we provide in support of IU students, faculty and alumni,” said Hannah Buxbaum, academic director of the IU Europe Gateway office and the university’s next vice president of international affairs. “It was a great opportunity to talk directly with Indiana’s policy makers about the university’s presence and activities in the region.”
The IU Europe Gateway is one of four in IU’s Global Gateway Network. IU President Michael A. McRobbie recently led a university delegation to Mexico City to formally open the IU Mexico Gateway on the campus of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. The other gateways are in Beijing and New Delhi.
IU’s gateway offices support international research, study abroad programs and opportunities for the global IU community to connect to the university.
