Anna K. Jensen will be appointed associate vice president and university controller, effective Jan. 1, according to Indiana University Vice President and Chief Financial Officer John Sejdinaj.
Jensen will serve as a senior member of the chief financial officer’s leadership team, guiding the development of the university’s internal control structure to ensure compliance, stewardship and best practices for accounting and finance at Indiana University. She will provide critical oversight and guidance for Financial Management Services, which includes enterprisewide accounting and financial compliance, internal accounting and reporting, and university financial systems, as well as payroll and other financial services. Other responsibilities include development of the university’s accounting and finance policies, as well as establishing systems and standards to ensure financial best practices.
“Indiana University is extremely fortunate that Anna will continue her service to the VPCFO team as she brings proven expertise in enhancing financial management processes and systems,” Sejdinaj said. “Her experience will help the university better plan for the future and achieve its aspirations.”
Jensen currently holds the position of university chief accountant and managing director of Financial Management Services at IU. In this position, she is a senior advisor to the university controller and the vice president and chief financial officer for all aspects of accounting compliance and financial reporting for institutionwide internal and external activity. She also provides guidance and executive decision-making on universitywide accounting and financial activities, as well as aiding in strategic decision-making to mitigate risk.
She collaborates with the offices of the vice presidents, functional units within the Office of the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and the campus vice chancellors for finance to ensure compliance and best practices in accounting and finance. Jensen currently manages the university’s consolidated financial statement audit, federal audit of the facilities and administrative proposal, IRS audits, and various external agency and internal audits.

Jensen has been with Indiana University since 2000 and has held progressive accounting positions within the university controller’s office. From 2001 to 2013, she also served in faculty positions at the IU Kelley School of Business, five of those years teaching full time in accounting. Prior to 2000, Jensen worked in corporate accounting for Cummins Engine Co., Stone Container Corp. and Burlington Motor Carriers.
A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Indiana CPA Society, Jensen earned her Bachelor of Science in accounting from IU and her MBA from Ball State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant and Chartered Global Management Accountant.
Jensen lives in Bloomington with her husband, Espen, and their four children, Stian, Erik, Caroline and Clara, ages 6 to 13.
