The app’s launch was moved up six months, an accelerated timeframe intended to help support students during the shift to remote teaching and learning due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We were planning to launch this app in time for the fall 2020 semester,” said Brian Hawkins, UX officer and digital campus design and infrastructure leader. “However, when the decision was made to go online for the rest of the semester, we kept asking ourselves, ‘Why not launch it now?’ So we made the call over spring break to expedite the launch of the app. It’s not perfect, and there’s still a lot we want to do, but I think this mobile app represents a big step forward for Indiana University.”

The app is also a home base for getting critical university information as it comes out in real time. Get COVID-19 information, and stay in the loop on university news and campuswide updates.

The app can be personalized, including rearranging the home screen for those tools used most often and ways to connect for additional help and resources. In the future, expected updates include virtual CrimsonCard integration, Canvas to-dos and additional resources for help.

Hawkins said the app will include additional features in the future to further support staff and faculty, but that the initial iteration focuses on student support in response to changes from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Download the app in Google Play or the App Store.
