MDPI short film showcases the film digitization process

Film was one of 25 selected for an annual screening event.

“MDPI Home Movie,” a three-minute short capturing the film digitization phase of the Media Digitization and Preservation Initiative (MDPI), was screened at the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) 28th annual Archival Screening Night.

Film quality control specialist Charlie Allen shot the film with a Bolex camera, a light meter, and 100 feet of Kodak 16mm black and white film. Just like collections being digitized in the MDPI project, the film was shot “home movie style,” in chronological order and edited entirely in-camera.
