With threats from state spies and hackers, it’s important to be vigilant with your online privacy. Here are seven tips for staying safe on social media.

  • Set strong passwords and update them regularly
  • Enable two-factor authentication
  • Avoid phishing scams
  • Block, report, and filter users and content
  • Be aware of what you share
  • Turn off geo-location
  • Read the Terms of Service

Summit will connect, empower, and celebrate women

Did you use the IU library for research? Apply to win $2,000

Undergraduates can win a $2,000 award for class assignments from any semester in 2022 that deeply explored library resources. Projects and papers are welcome, and a faculty endorsement is required.

Make the Grade Fridays at the Herman B Wells Library

From now through spring break, wrap up your week and find the finish line at IU Libraries 10am-4pm. Find your perfect study spot, get writing help, or drop in on research consultants, advisors, and the UITS help desk.

Then take a study break. There’s free food, table tennis, and yard games. Dogs, musicians, or massage therapists may show up.

Celebrate space and astronomy March 2

Join UITS Research Technologies Visual and Data Labs for Out of This World, an evening of fun, engaging, and immersive space and astronomy–themed experiences. Space-themed snacks and beverages will be provided. All are welcome to attend.

Teach, Play, Learn conference call for proposals

Call for proposals is now open for the June 2 Teach, Play, Learn conference at IU Kokomo.

The conference explores how games and play can aid learning by generating interest in new technologies, demonstrating the use of games in the classroom, and showcasing solutions for the design and implementation of games.

IU Libraries announces Open Educators Award

Bloomington instructors who use Open Educational Resources (OER) are eligible to apply for the Open Educators Award (except for Fellows in the Course Material Fellowship Program). Selection of the awardees will be based on cost savings and educational impact.

Nominate a colleague or yourself. Awardees will receive a monetary award along with recognition.

Nominate your IT Pro for an award

The call for nominations for IU IT Leadership Community Technologist Recognition Awards is open through February 28.

The award program is open to all IT professionals at IU regardless of campus, school, or department. Winners will be honored at the Statewide IT Conference in April.

Option to pay for Google Shared Drive

If you need additional storage in Google at IU Shared Drives (GSD), there is an option to purchase additional storage at $48 per year in 100 GB increments. GSD is approved for higher data classification levels than Google My Drive.

IU made changes to Google storage limits after Google announced caps on storage use.
