Coming soon: IU Login
The way you log in to IU services is getting a facelift.
This summer, IU’s authentication services, including Central Authentication Service (CAS), are getting a refresh. A lot will be happening to improve the infrastructure behind the scenes, but for IU students, faculty, and staff, the main thing you need to know is that CAS branding is being retired. It will be replaced by IU Login, which will do all the same things CAS did, and it’ll look different, too. The switch will be fairly seamless to the user, but expect a new look.
That’s so ’90s: Overhead projectors going away at IUPUI
Document cameras replacing overhead projectors in IUPUI classrooms.
Digital document cameras are coming to IUPUI classrooms this fall, replacing the venerable overhead projector. They offer several advantages over their tried-and-true, yet outdated, predecessors. You can record lecture content for publication on Kaltura, for example, and you can also caption lecture content for accessibility purposes.
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) can provide advice and assistance in the development of digitized material for classroom presentation, and staff from Classroom and Conferencing Support (CCS) can meet with you to demonstrate available classroom technologies.
Students: Get your Game On!
Save the date for UITS’s annual gaming and tech event.
Coming to an IU campus near you this fall, Game On! lets you take part in video game battles and even experiment with a VR headset, all while learning how tech at IU can save you time and money.
Plus we’ll give you fun stuff to take home just for showing up and talking to us.
Security Matters Cybercamp for high schoolers is coming this June
Registration is limited to 50 teens, so sign up early.
Security Matters Cybercamp is a day camp for high school students interested in cybersecurity. Hosted by the Indiana University Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research, the camp features sessions on cybersecurity ethics, cryptography, cybercrime, finding malware, network security, and more.
The keynote speaker will be Jonathan Sweeny, an FBI computer scientist. New this year is a full third day with even more advanced content.
When: June 25–27

Lecture: ‘Open Science is Good (Data) Science’
Join us May 10 for the 2019 Peebles Memorial Lecture, featuring Beth Plale.
Beth Plale is a National Science Foundation program officer working on open science, a movement to make scientific research accessible to all members of society. She is also a professor in the IU School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering.
She will discuss open science in data science from the perspectives of both funder and researcher to show that open science is good science, with benefits for us all.
When: Friday, May 10, noon–1:30pm
Where: Wells Library Hazelbaker Lecture Hall, Scholars’ Commons, IU Bloomington
This lecture is held alongside the annual Research Services Expo and RT Student Poster Expo.

The Center of Excellence for Women in Technology (CEWiT) is accepting applications.
