IU Gaming presents LAN War 37
Dec. 4 event features door prizes, giveaways, food, and a bigger venue.
Same great giveaways, door prizes, and free food, but this year, LAN War 37 offers new hours and a new location. Register now for the Dec. 4 noon to midnight event.
At past events, students were turned away due to tight space, but LAN War 37 offers room for everyone who wants to attend at the new venue, the Intercollegiate Gym at 2721 E. 10th St. across from the Cyberinfrastructure Building (CIB) on the Bloomington campus. Complimentary food and drinks will be served in the CIB’s Wrubel Commons.
IU Gaming, in cooperation with UITS, has hosted Local Area Network events, called LAN War, since 1999 with students, local gamers, friends of IU students, and teammates from as far away as Canada and California.

Join IU’s IT staff for a virtual panel Nov. 5.
Questions about working in IT? Ask a panel of professional IT staffers on Nov. 5, 1-2:30pm.
IU’s IT experts will talk about typical day-to-day projects, required skills and certifications, career trajectories, and advice for students interested in pursuing similar careers.
UITS and the LiFT Scholarship Program have partnered to sponsor the Nov. 5 session.

Want to learn more about self-care?
Enjoy a complimentary meal and attend an empowerment session on Nov. 10.
The Center of Excellence for Women & Technology hosts the first in-person Empowerment Series session since the pandemic on Nov. 10, noon-1pm.
Counseling and Psychological Services staff will tackle your questions related to self-care while you enjoy a complimentary meal in the Tudor Room on the Bloomington campus.
UITS Support Center Thanksgiving break hours
Most support services will be closed Nov. 24-25.
The UITS Support Center phone, email, chat, and walk-in services will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 24, and Thursday, Nov. 25. During that time, phone calls will route to the UITS Contact Center for an answering service. Walk-in locations will continue to be closed on Friday, Nov. 26, but phone, email, and chat support will re-open at 8am.
The Tier 2 Support and CrimsonCard offices will be closed Nov. 24-26 and will resume normal hours on Monday, Nov. 29.

Microsoft Teams training ongoing
Learn from Microsoft staff about storage and tasks.
Microsoft staff will be conducting training through Nov. 10 on cloud storage and how to manage your tasks. Ask questions during the sessions and access the recordings later for review.
Microsoft To Do Level 100 teaches how to manage your To Do list anywhere, set up a project planner, and share lists with colleagues. The Microsoft 365 Storage series teaches cloud storage and OneDrive for Business and is especially helpful for people working with HIPAA, PII, and other critical data.
Learn low-effort, high-impact teaching strategies
Attend the Advancing Teaching and Learning with Technology Symposium on Nov. 5.
The 2021 Virtual Advancing Teaching and Learning with Technology Symposium features keynote speaker and noted author, Dr. Thomas Tobin. He will be talking about three low-effort, high-impact teaching strategies that can make a big difference for instructors and students, and he’ll take your questions.
The symposium takes place Friday, Nov.5, 10am-1:30pm.
It’s not too late to order IU eTexts for spring 2022
Cost-saving digital course materials can be ordered through noon on Nov. 9.
Ensure your students benefit from the cost savings and student protections, as well as the promotion of academic engagement and success that is only available through IU eTexts.
IU eTexts will continue to accept post-deadline ordering requests (IU login required) until noon on Thursday, Nov. 9.
Help cultivate digital literacy across IU
Apply to be a Digital Gardener Faculty Fellow for Spring 2022
Be one of 35 IU faculty in the inaugural cohort of the Digital Gardener Faculty Fellowship Program and work to incorporate digital literacy, creativity, and learning into your teaching. Faculty will build individual skills, develop curriculum materials, and work collaboratively with others across campuses and disciplines.
Fellows will receive a stipend for participation. Open to all full-time faculty, regardless of rank, discipline, or campus (part-time faculty who are also full-time IU employees may also apply). Deadline to apply is Dec. 5.
