What happens to your IU accounts once you graduate?
Access and retain your data before you leave IU.
- IU email will remain active for now but will be disabled after two consecutive unenrolled terms.
- You can keep IU software already installed on your computer, but when no longer enrolled, you will not be able to download university software.
- You will retain access to bills, transcripts, and financial aid.
Manage your accounts as you leave IU
(updated) Mail forwarding is not going away—we are changing how you manage your email forwarding
We would like to offer clarification regarding the recent update on email forwarding, as mentioned in the May 3 UITS Monitor. Most importantly, this change will not affect your ability to forward emails to recipients outside of IU on an individual basis. However, the “Forward email” option for external addresses will be removed from the Manage Your Email portal. After May 16, if you wish to set up email forwarding to external addresses, you will need to create new forwarding rules in your Outlook mailbox. It’s important to note that if you have existing forwards set up using the Manage Your Email portal, they will not be removed as part of the update on May 16.
UITS will communicate directly with owners of affected accounts about these changes.

Research data now easier to access
Students now have a more effective and efficient “front door” to discover, access, and share research data and services. The newly created IU Research Data Commons is expected to exponentially grow the impact of IU’s research output and contribute to open and transparent science.

IT staff tackle AI and tech issues at statewide conference
More than 1,100 IU IT staff from across the state gathered in April at the Indiana Memorial Union in Bloomington for the 27th Statewide IT Conference. Industry experts addressed attendees on major tech topics, including the impact of AI on higher education and the implementation of IT goals in the 2030 Strategic Plan. IT leadership award winners were announced.

IU eTexts webinar today on new Engage interface
Take a webinar today on the new IU eTexts Engage interface. Now, it’s even easier to navigate eTexts. You’ll learn where to find Engage features and get resources to support your transition to the new interface. Sessions at 2pm and 7pm today, May 3.

Promote digital literacy at IU
Apply by May 12 to be a fall 2023 Digital Gardener Faculty Fellow. You will build individual skills, develop curriculum materials, and work collaboratively across campuses and disciplines. Fellows receive stipends. Open to faculty across IU, regardless of rank, discipline, or campus. Open to staff working in roles directly supporting teaching and learning.

Generative AI workshop on May 9
Generative AI: Exploring Applications for Teaching and Learning is a fast-paced event for faculty investigating the world of AI. Through quick 15-minute “speed encounters” in breakout rooms, you’ll learn about applications of generative AI in education and discover innovative ways to enhance learning and reduce administrative burdens. Facilitators will provide a platform for asking questions, sharing ideas, and making connections.
