Amy Hackenberg is an associate professor of mathematics education at the IU School of Education. She conducts research on how middle school students learn rational numbers and algebra, but she loves working with students of all ages.
In her most recent project, she has investigated how to differentiate instruction for diverse middle school students, studying her own teaching and working with practicing teachers. She is the co-author of the Sage publication, “Developing Fractions Knowledge.”
Hackenberg taught mathematics to middle and high school students for nine years in L.A. and Chicago before earning a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia.
