Expert Bio
Sarah Bassett is an associate professor in the Department of Art History, where she teaches courses on the art and architecture of the later Roman and medieval Byzantine Empires. Her research focuses on artistic culture in late antiquity; that is on the art and architecture of the Mediterranean world in the period between the fourth century and the seventh century that saw the shift from a predominately pagan to a largely Christian culture.
