Heather Milam, a costume maker and educator, is head of the MFA costume technology program at Indiana University. Prior to academia, she worked in New York City at a Broadway costume shop, Barbara Matera Ltd.
She is an active member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, acting as vice chair of archives for the costume commission, juror/editor of the costume poster session and an elected member of the Midwest Board. The United States Institute for Theatre Technology supported her with a travel grant that allowed her to do research at the Moscow Art Theatre School in summer of 2016 on the education methods for designers and technicians.
